The capital of the Old Kingdom of Egypt has some extraordinary burial monuments, including rock tombs, elaborate mastabas, temples and pyramids. In ancient times, the site was considered one of the seven wonders of the world. The site is home to numerous archaeological remains that reflect life in the ancient Egyptian city, including temples, the most important of which is the Temple of Ptah at Mit Rahina. Ptah was the local god of Memphis, the god of creation and the patron of craftsmanship.
